Ian Duerr is a jazz guitarist with a deeply expressive style, currently based in St. Paul, MN. A 2004 graduate of Cardinal Stritch University with a BFA in jazz performance, he spent five years honing his craft aboard cruise ships, performing in jazz trios night after night. From there, he moved to New York City where he spent over a decade as both a bandleader and sideman, collaborating with top-tier musicians and playing at some of the city's most renowned venues. 

​Duerr’s guitar technique is distinctive—favoring his thumb over a pick, much like the legendary Wes Montgomery. This approach gives his playing a warm, resonant tone and an effortless swing, making his sound unmistakably his own.
